Our elders (also known as pastors) are biblically qualified men who oversee the local church, particularly through teaching God’s Word, praying, caring for church members, and training members to do the work of ministry. We seek to maintain a plurality of elders, seeing it as the most faithful representation of how the New Testament churches governed themselves. While some may be full-time staff and others voluntarily serve, each elder holds equal weight in leading our church. When someone asks, “Who pastors Pillar Church?” the best answer is, “Our team of elders.”
Our deacons operate under the oversight of the elders, providing for the practical needs of the congregation, encouraging the gifts of service among the members of the church by example, and caring for the physical property of the church.
ELDER
Jake Rogers currently serves as one of the pastors of Pillar 29 Palms. He and his wife joined the church as members in 2018 while Jake was on active duty. He transitioned off active duty and into full-time, pastoral ministry in 2023, becoming an elder at Pillar 29 in July 2025. He and his wife, Joi, have been married since 2017 and are blessed with two beautiful children.
ELDER
Rob Wallace currently serves as one of the pastors of Pillar 29 Palms. He joined the church at its inception in 2017 and served as the church's first lay elder before receiving orders overseas. He is an active duty Marine and he and his wife Andrea are on their third tour in Twentynine Palms. They love raising their six kids and work daily to teach people the Word of God and the joys of knowing and following Christ.
ELDER
Timothy Burnam currently serves as one of the pastors of Pillar Church of Twentynine Palms. He and his family have dedicated themselves to Pillar ever since the first time they visited the church, two days after arriving in town. He's been working towards entering the gospel ministry full-time for a number of years. Timothy has been married to his wife Katie for over ten years now, and together they have five children.
DEACON
Peter Anderson currently serves the congregation at Pillar Church as a Deacon. Serving the Lord and loving His people are his two great passions in life, and he can usually be found in a Bible study somewhere. He and his wife Sarely have one son together.
