VISITING PILLAR

What Should I Expect?

Our services are 75-90 minutes in length, and include singing, congregational prayer, scripture reading, preaching, and the Lord’s Supper or baptism. We preach expositionally, typically studying through a book of the Bible section-by-section, and from a reformed theological perspective, and we sing a mix of timeless hymns and contemporary songs. Childcare is available during the sermon for children 1 year of age through Kindergarten, but families are also welcome to keep their children with them throughout the duration of the service.

FAQ

Questions?

What kind of church is Pillar?

Pillar is a church made up of individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds. We are theologically baptist, and joyfully cooperate with other churches in seeking to accomplish the Great Commission as a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are also a member of the Praetorian Project, a family of multiplying churches in military communities world wide. So, while we are not a “military church,” we seek to structure our ministries in a way that is sensitive to the unique challenges and needs of the military members and families who make up much of the Twentynine Palms community. Above all these things, we seek to be a community of people centered on the gospel, rooted in scripture, committed to meaningful relationships, focused on multiplication, and devoted to loving one another as we seek to faithfully worship God, follow Jesus, and make disciples of all nations

Are your kids ministry volunteers background checked?

Yes! We take the security and well-being of all the children within the Pillar 29 community incredibly seriously. Because of this, all Kids ministry volunteers undergo a DOJ and FBI fingerprint background check, in compliance with California state law. All volunteers also complete extensive online and in-person training before serving in the Kids Ministry.

What should I wear?

We are not worried about how you are dressed. Most people wear whatever they would wear to hang out with friends and family, because that’s what we are.
